What is Kapture about?
Kapture is a service that allows you to record your internet browser sessions and access them, as a whole, in the future, in a format we call the Kapture Session. With our browser plugin, we allow you to automatically (like a video) or selectively (like a photograph) store the pages as you see them on our servers on the internet. We then process all the pages in your Kapture Session into your own search engine to use for yourself or to share with others.
Why would I want to do this?
Kapture is based on a few simple premises:
- We can't remember everywhere we've been on the net.
- Sharing where we've been or what we've bookmarked is a pain.
- Why not walk a mile in their shoes? - others have certainly sought and found the information before me.
Here are a few ways Kapture helps everyday Internet users:
- Store and recall product research and comparisons online
- Discover and follow news stories and events in greater depth
- Research and share travel plans, ideas and event information
- Record job searches, house searches, car searches
- Dig deep into political, environmental, social and work-related issues
- Maintain comprehensive research on investments, sports, hobbies and pastimes
- Find ANY of these things, in context, with one search the next time you need it!
How did all this start? I have over 300 bookmarks --lucky me -- but the heck if I know what I've saved. What's worse, I try to find something when I'm on another computer, geez.
Now, what I do remember, is that I've solved this problem before. Do I go back to the old standby, Google - Yahoo! ... and hope to dig it up again. That might work if it was a publicly accessible site, but what about protected content, maybe a site I pay for access to. If I can't remember where I found it, give it up. While I believe in 'you get what you pay for', we're making the basic Kapture service available for free. We suspect this might be all you ever need from our service. I want you to try it and provide thoughtful feedback. All we ask in return is a few words here and there to let us know how to make it better for you. After all, you wouldn't download and install it in the first place if you didn't relate to the problem. So let's work together to solve it.
Now, if you always want the best that we offer, the subscription rate for non-corporate users is a few bucks a month. It's a nominal fee that covers our costs and merits sufficient diligence on our part to take care of your data. This ensures that your interests and our interests are properly aligned. All the what-ifs will be in your terms of service. For those few bucks, I promise to work hard to meet your needs and continue enhancing the service through time.
